George Krethlow Shaw developed a love of drums and all things percussion from the age of 11, first cutting his teeth on punk, pop and rock and then discovering his love of improvisation, funk and jazz. Known for being creative, reliable, flexible and with a high technical skill level George studied drums full time at music college since the age of 16. In 2018 he achieved a First Class, BA (Hons) Popular Music Degree at UCC (Essex University) specialising in the area of performance both live and in the studio.
George’s eclectic style enables him to write and create original music with his instrumental band RAZ (Jazz, Funk, Rock) allowing them to reach the finals of Essex Undiscovered (2017) as well as playing at such venues as The Colchester Arts Centre Jazz Club (2019 supporting the international band Tristan). George also works extensively in recording studios; live as a session musician, on short film work and writing and performing with songwriters (such as Poppy Scarlett 2019 on her recent first EP) as well as with local cover bands (First Principles and Ethereal).
George also has a passion for passing on his love of drumming through teaching and works in local primary schools as well as privately in his own purpose built studio.
